Docs / Update your mold
Upgrade an existing tokens.css without losing your customizations.
Read the first line of your tokens.css, then compare it with the requires mold >= N header on the CSS or JS you are copying. A file without a mold header is legacy v1. Package version and mold version are separate.

Keep a backup. Download v2 into a new temporary file; do not overwrite your working copy before reviewing the diff.

If you edited tokens by hand, compare against the exact upstream revision you originally copied. Apply your theme overrides after the new mold rather than copying an old :root over it. Review the mold changelog; numbered durations now include the multiplier, so remove an extra multiplication. Do not restore removed combo/toast tokens at root. An unknown original revision needs a manual three-way review; do not guess.

After reviewing the diff, replace tokens.css and reapply reviewed overrides. Test light and dark, focus states, custom palettes, motion multiplier zero and reduced motion. Keep the backup until those checks pass. Reload uncached assets to avoid mixing old tokens with new components.

The CLI compatibility warning is pending the overlapping CLI safety PRs #1 and #3. Until it is merged, check headers manually; the CLI does not protect this upgrade yet.
